Core beliefs are the mainframe of our thinking and feeling.  They are formed in childhood and built upon during our adult years.  Sometimes we need to challenge those core beliefs so that we can go further in our lives and fulfil our best potential in relationships and in our careers.

As a counselling psychotherapist practitioner of 23 years.  I make it my personal responsibility to challenge any negative core beliefs that may be holding me back in important ways.  It’s a conscious effort on my behalf to better myself and make those improvements in the hope that personal growth will follow.  I encourage anyone to do the same.

Benefits of challenging old core beliefs

The benefits of psychotherapy in St. Albans are numerous once you have made the decision to identify and challenge any negative or limiting core beliefs that you might be holding onto, whether consciously or unconsciously.  I can help you to identify and challenge core beliefs that are not working in your best interests.  Why challenge old negative core beliefs? Old core beliefs may be sustaining your lack of confidence to ‘press go’ one of my mantras when I’m sitting on the fence or procrastinating on something that could add value to my life.

Reasons for holding on and not letting go

It takes a modicum of courage to let go of old core beliefs.  They are like an old comfy chair that feels familiar but no longer serve a purpose.  This is where I can help you to take that leap of faith that your life could be so much better if a few changes in your mindset are put into action.  I can help you to modify your way of thinking and offer you a whole new perspective in ways of looking at life.  With you as the main character.  Together we can craft a new vision making your life a road to discovery rather than a worn-out trodden path that might be making you miserable.

Ways forward

In order to let go of old ways of thinking, you will need a new mainframe.  That’s where I can help you. Together we can reconstruct new ways of thinking and feeling.  You can’t tear down a house without a new structure that’s ready to be put into its place.  The outcome could have exciting results.  You may discover parts of you that have been dormant for years, yet your old core beliefs have closed you off from recognising them.

Make a decision to change

The first step in changing our outmoded ways of thinking is to make a decision to change.  It’s akin to recycling.  What stays and what goes.  If you feel that you could benefit from psychotherapy in St. Albans, please contact me at Penny Glazebrook Counselling and Psychotherapy and look forward to a brighter future!
