Parenthood is a commitment that takes a lot of your time every single day. There are school runs, work, meals, bedtimes and weekend activities. You and your spouse might not get enough time to spend together. Relationship counselling in Hertfordshire gives you a proper space to talk. To listen and to reconnect. I work with couples with or without children. I aim to understand how much family life asks of a partnership.
How Psychotherapy in Hertfordshire Helps You
The roots of some arguments can reach way beyond the present moment. An argument about bedtime routines can carry some older feelings about being valued, supported, or even heard. Psychotherapy in Hertfordshire gives you the safe space to explore these deeper layers of emotions.
My practice is integrative. In couple work, I blend psychodynamic, cognitive and person-centred theories. This blend lets us shape sessions around your needs. Some couples need a short block of support. Others prefer longer-term work, and the number of sessions depends on you.
Support for Different Family Situations
Every family looks different, and I welcome that. I work with:
- Married and cohabiting couples
- Neurodivergent couples
- Same gender couples
- Couples who need help with co-parenting
I bring personal (I am a mother to two adult neurodivergent children) and clinical experience of neurotypical, as well as ADHD and ASD to this work. I help partners avoid reactivity and see each other’s behaviour with more understanding compassion.

FAQs by my clients
No. There are several stages why a couple may come to me. Some face betrayal or ongoing conflict, while others notice a slow, gradual distance, boredom or stress at home. You do not need to wait for things to cross limits before coming to me.
My sessions focus on you and your partner. Since I work with adults, it is best if the children stay at home.
Yes. Ending a relationship is itself very hard. My clinical experience is to help you understand what has happened. This way, you can cope with the grieving process that may follow you for some time. I also help you address practical matters, and that includes co-parenting.
That is normal. Many people get nervous. The free telephone consultation exists for that reason. You can ask me about anything before committing to a session.
You deserve to be supported. Book your free 30-minute telephone consultation with Penny Glazebrook Counselling today. Use the Get An Appointment button on my website to start the conversation. I look forward to supporting you and your family.
